Matty's Blog is Dead...

...but I've started a new one!

It's hard to believe I started Matty's Blog over 7 years ago, and this post is the final nail in the coffin. After all, it's been over 2 years since I've been posting regularly, and truth be told there's a bunch of stuff on here I'm not 100% comfortable with. I find it amazing, though, that even though I really haven't updated the blog in over 2 years and my last post was in July of 2010, according to Google Analytics I've had 2,248 visitors in roughly the last month and a half, since January 1, 2012. That's just amazing to me.

I've been slowly going through the archives on this blog and re-reading everything I had ever posted. A lot of the pics accompanying posts have expired or been taken down, and some of the posts have certainly made me cringe, but overall it's been a delightful experience and blast from the past. I'm debating whether or not to delete the whole thing off the server, or perhaps just delete certain posts, but for now I think I'll defer that decision and leave everything up for a little bit.

I've started a new blog to help motivate me to finally write my thesis this summer/fall, so we'll see how it goes. The theory is that by constantly writing and posting something will help keep the writing process fresh and continuous and then, before I know it, the thesis writing will just flow out of me. So, the Crossroads debuted today, so if you know me and you're interested in checking it out just shoot me an email.

See ya!

R.I.P. James Gammon 1940-2010

Sad day, learning one of my favorite character actors James Gammon has passed away today. Aww, I might have to watch Major League tonight in his honor (he was Cleveland Indians manager Lou Brown). He was also in tons of westerns, just saw him in Streets of Loredo on Netflix, but he was in Wyatt Earp and Silverado and tons and tons of other stuff.

Some of my favorite Lou Brown lines:

You may run like Hayes. but you hit like shit.

Come on Dorn, get in front of the damn ball! Don't give me this "olé" bullshit!

Okay Vaughn. They say you're a pitcher, you're sure not much of a dresser. We wear caps and sleeves on this level, son.

R.I.P. dude!
